Araxos Airport (Modern Greek: Αεροδρόμιο Αράξου) (AITA code: GPA – ICAO code: LGRX) is an international airport located near the cape of Áraxos, Achaia, Greece. It serves the city of Patras and the western Peloponnese. It is also called Araxos National Airport1 or Agamemnon Airport. It is primarily an air base of the Greek Air Force, with seasonal commercial flights.

Airbase

The first contingent of the United States Air Force in Europe arrived on July 14, 1962. A USAFE munitions squadron loaded with an estimated 25 U.S. B61 tactical nuclear weapons stored from 1974 as part of NATO nuclear sharing2, was stationed at Araxos between April 1, 1972 and May 11, 20013.
