A 54-year-old taxi driver was arrested for charging a female passenger €110 from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport to Piraeus. The Hellenic Police located him at the airport and filed charges.
A 54-year-old Greek taxi driver was arrested in Athens for charging a fare much higher than the standard rate.
According to the Hellenic Police, at noon on August 21, the driver transported a female passenger from Athens International Airport to the port of Piraeus, charging her €110, which was well above the legal fare.
Following a complaint, the 54-year-old was sought and finally located at noon on August 22 at the airport, where he was arrested by police officers from the Airport Traffic Department.
The case against him was filed by the First Traffic Department of Piraeus and the arrested man was taken to the competent prosecutor.
“Such practices will not be tolerated. Checks are ongoing and offenders will be brought to justice immediately,” sources from the Hellenic Police emphasize.
